Chmiňany are spread in the south edge of The Nízke Beskydy in the long stream valley. More than 700 inhabitants live here. In the south part of the village there was Slavic hill-fort from 11th century set up. The first written mention dates back to 1332. Gothic church from 14th century was treated in Renaissance style in 17th century, when the tower with attic gable was complemented. Altar with painting is from 1766. 113 houses and two housing units are there in the village. The first one has six flats and the second one has eight flats and is in gypsy community. In the past, besides traditional agriculture people of Chminany apply themselves to linen craft, carrier´s trade and selling of the wood in Presov. Although today structure of occupation is different, agriculture and some traditional crafts always go well.
